Japanese Jujutsu Workshop in Muhlenberg KY
We had a great time in Muhlenberg KY this past weekend! Saturday morning was started off with Mr. Noel Flores treating everyone with some fundamental and tactical shooting classes on the WHFRTC military base. Several hours were dedicated to making everyones basics stronger and reinforcing proper technique and it sounded like everyone that attended had a great time. Sunday morning started with some private training of the Kukishin Ryu Hanbo jutsu techniques. We worked on the Chuden (middle level) material as well as the Okuden (deepest level) techniques. We then did 6 tests for the students of the Muhlenberg dojo. Everyone is really coming along down there and the group is continuing to expand. Congrats to everyone that tested! Please train hard to earn what you have. The workshop later that afternoon went really well and everyone was tired toward the end. We worked on some very specific techniques, focusing on the basic points of each and then explored the counters to the techniques we learned. We also worked a variety of shime waza (choking techniques) and the finer points on how to make them work. I want to personally thank everyone that attended and I hope everyone learned something from the training. As usual, Mr. Daniel and Vanessa Rolley were great hosts and the event was ran smoothly. Looking forward to training with everyone again soon!

Everyone had a great time and we had a good turnout to all 3 seminars in the beautiful state of Wisconsin, Black River Falls. We travelled to the Hochunk Indian Reservation for a series of workshops. We worked on a variety of topics on unarmed martial arts during the training and everyone seemed to have a great time. Mr. Pettibone and Mr. Whiteagle were very kind to us as were many others during our travels with the Hochunk people. Sharing some of the culture with them was great for all of us. The weather was beautiful, campfire and ranch awesome, the night skies and Indian history stories were cool, the buffalo meat and white corn was a delicious treat and the friendship shared was the best part of the trip. Thanks to Daniel Rolley and Ricky Blanton for assisting in the instruction and a special thanks to Dave "Benkei" Payne for handling the logistics and helping out with teaching as well. The workshop this past Saturday was great fun and packed with information. I would like to thank Noel Flores and Chuck Shuff for sharing a bunch of material and equipment with us. We started with some warm up drills and basic shooting theories. Afterward we did a number of conceal and carry draws and shooting while in motion. We did some accuracy drills as well as some long range shooting. We then shot some steel targets for speed and timing. The most interesting part of the session was doing car jacking defense and shooting from within and behind a vehicle as well as how to exit in a team while still returning fire. Thanks to Noel Flores for providing/risking his own vehicle for the exercises. Luckily no one shot it up! Overall a great learning experience for everyone involved and I for one am looking forward for the next one. Please check back here for some pics/videos of the event! This is another workshop that really makes our school stand above all the rest! You just can't get this type of training anywhere else.
